The data controller for this website, Wordatlas.be, respects the Belgian legislation of 8 December 1992 concerning the protection of privacy when processing personal data, as well as Regulation (EU) 2016/679 on the protection of natural persons with regard to the processing of personal data and on the free movement of such data, and repealing Directive 95/46/EC.

Word Atlas bv is located at Zuidbroek 17, 9030 Gent, Belgium, and can be contacted on contact@wordatlas.be. Word Atlas bv will also be referred to with “us” or “we”.

This policy (“Privacy Policy”) describes which data is being collected when our site is used, why such data is being collected and what your rights are in controlling your data. You will understand how we work and what you can do.

This Privacy Policy applies to (i) the website Wordatlas.be (“the website”), (ii) the services of Word Atlas bv, and (iii) sharing posts from Word Atlas bv in other media. Points (i) and (ii) are hereafter referred to as the “services”.

Visiting the website, using Word Atlas bv’s services and contributing to posts that can be shared by Word Atlas bv, implies that you have given consent (by opt-in or filling in your personal data) in the context of this Privacy Policy, and thus for the way in which we collect, use and process your data. Unless a longer storage period is necessary or justified (i) by law, or (ii) to adhere to a legal obligation, Word Atlas bv will in principle store your data for a maximum of ten years or for the contract duration. This period is necessary for the purposes described under “Use of personal data”.

However, we commit to shorten this storage period when keeping data for ten years doesn’t serve any purpose.

Word Atlas bv commits to taking reasonable, physical, technological and organizational precautions to prevent (i) unauthorized access, and (ii) loss, abuse or change of your personal data.

Word Atlas bv will save all collected personal data on a secure server in the European Union.

Despite our security policy, our procedures and controls, we can’t guarantee 100% security. No method for data transfer by use of the internet or electronic storage is completely secure.

The visitor recognises that Word Atlas bv can’t be held liable for any direct or indirect damage suffered as a consequence of illegal or unjustified use of data by third parties, unless Word Atlas bv has committed grave misconduct that led to the damage.

Due to the data protection legislation, we are also obliged to inform you as well as the Data Protection Authority of any data leaks that have taken place.

We don’t share your data with third parties, unless this is necessary to provide you with one of our services. In case Word Atlas bv needs to share your data with third parties, these parties should treat your personal data in accordance with the provisions of the applicable legislation.

Despite this general rule, Word Atlas bv may share your data with the competent authorities (i) when we are legally obliged to do so or in the context of a judicial procedure, and (ii) to protect our rights.

Word Atlas bv will never sell, lease or lend your data to third parties. Any third parties that Word Atlas does business with where personal data are transferred, will sign a data processing agreement that contains the necessary guarantees concerning confidentiality and privacy protection.
